Convicted murderer Danilo Cavalcante, who escaped from a Pennsylvania prison on August 31, was seen wearing a new look and driving a stolen van overnight.
“He changed his appearance,” Pennsylvania State Police said, “He is now clean-shaven and wearing a yellow or green hooded sweatshirt, black baseball-style cap, green prison pants and white shoes.”
Police said the 34-year-old man was driving a white 2020 Ford Transit van with license plate number ZST8818.
The Chester County District Attorney said The theft of the van was reported by a local dairy farm, Bailey’s Dairy.
This is the latest sighting as the search operation enters its 11th day. There have been several other credible sightings of a prisoner escaping by climbing over the wall and razor wire at the Chester County Jail.
Surveillance video of the escape showed Cavalcante with his hands against one wall and his feet against another wall as he headed upstairs and out of view.
At least 400 officers have reportedly joined the search for the fugitive.
Cavalcante’s escape came two weeks after he was convicted of first-degree murder in the 2021 killing of his ex-girlfriend, 33-year-old Deborah Brandao. Authorities said he stabbed Brandao 38 times in front of her two children, who are now in her sister’s care. cnn,
The U.S. Marshals Service has said Cavalcante is also wanted in his home country of Brazil in a 2017 murder case, CNN said.
According to the Associated Press, authorities fired the prison guard who had allowed Cavalcante to escape under his supervision. The Chester County guard served for 18 years as a corrections officer and was in the watchtower when the killer broke free.
Police said a $20,000 reward is being offered for information leading to Cavalcante’s capture.
