Rumor mill: There’s still about a week until Intel releases its 14th generation Raptor Lake Refresh CPUs. According to a new report, the first processors will launch on October 17th, with the advertising embargo lifting on October 16th.
The news about the launch date of Raptor Lake Refresh comes from VideoCardz. The publication cites unidentified sources, although Intel typically waits about a month after releasing its CPUs before bringing them to market; Raptor Lake was announced at the 2022 Innovation Event and unveiled on October 20th. This year’s innovation event is scheduled for September 19th and 20th.
Six Raptor Lake Refresh chips are scheduled to launch on October 17: the Core i9-14900K and Core i9-14900KF, the Core i7-14700K and Core i7-14700KF, and the Core i5-14600K and Core i5-14600KF , which are all unlocked 125W TDP models. The locked non-K versions with TDPs of 65W and below are expected to launch sometime around CES 2024 next year.
Most of the leaks and reports related to Raptor Lake Refresh have been disappointing. A leak from MSI showed that the new processors perform around 3% better on average compared to their predecessors, although there are exceptions like the i7-14700K, which is around 17% faster on average. Elsewhere, the Core i9-14900K’s slight performance boost is enough to push it to the top of Geekbench with record-breaking single-core performance.
Adding to the concern are claims that the 14th generation CPUs will come with a 15% price increase over the equivalent 13th generation models.

Intel will present several other topics at its innovation event. Expect product roadmaps, a range of AI-related products and services, and data center chips. We also learn more about the first processors to ditch the long-used “i” prefix and use the new Intel Core Ultra brand: Meteor Lake.
Intel CEO Pat Gelsinger is definitely excited about Meteor Lake. He expects next-generation mobile processors to be Intel’s new “Centrino moment.” According to a recent leak, the (likely) flagship 185H processor will likely have a maximum boost clock of up to 5.1GHz, while the 165H and 155H could have peak clock speeds of up to 5.0GHz and 4.8GHz, respectively .
