Kizer asked his two teenage daughters to place some orders. Her first daughter wanted some clothes.
“She found a beautiful skirt, and it comes with a shirt for just $12,” he said.
But what about quality?
“It’s like something you’d see at H&M or Forever 21,” Kizer said. “She’s 19; it works for her.”
Her other daughter ordered a makeup organizer for $34.
“It’s big and has all these drawers,” she said.
Kizer says some items have a dollar store feel, like the dog leash she bought for only $4.
“It’s not strong,” she said. “I honestly feel like I could lose the dog.”
But is it safe to buy Temu?
Another downside: Kizer says many items come directly from China, so orders can take a few weeks.
Kizer also wonders about the resources used to send all this stuff. “We must acknowledge the carbon emissions caused by the manufacturing and transportation of many of TEMU’s products,” she says in her article.

“There’s really no problem putting yourself at risk,” she said.
But Kizer says it might be worth a try if you go into it knowing you’re not buying high-end name brands.
“Opening this box and saying, ‘Wow, I paid less than $100 and got 20 things,’ was a great feeling,” he said.
