Like many fans tuning in around the world at all times of the night, Joe Rogan was left saddened with the spectacle of Jake Paul’s victory over 58-year-old Mike Tyson. The bout at the AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas is one that will go down in history for all the wrong reasons.
Paul dominated the fight, leaving the 31-year age gap between the two fighters clear to see as ‘Iron Mike’ was unable to keep up with the YouTuber-turned-boxer. The eight-round fight went the distance to the disappointment, but not surprise of most.
The event which saw the world’s youngest-ever heavyweight champion return to the ring in a first professional fight in 19 years had Rogan and others dreaming that Tyson would be able to turn back time.
“I’m getting ready to watch this Tyson vs Jake Paul fight like I’m watching someone cast a spell that I hope actually works. And I don’t really believe in magic. But I want to believe,” the UFC commentator said.
However, nature waits for no one as those dreaming of anyone merely resembling a prime Tyson were left feeling their hopes were nothing but delusion. Rogan took to X before the fight to share his hope of a memorable spectacle.

But following the fight, Rogan addressed the bout and his previous message about his optimism. Replying to his original post, Rogan added: “Magic isn’t real.”
There were plenty more reaction from around the fighting community as fighters vented their feelings towards the fight in the same manner but some more furious than others. In a now-deleted comment, Conor McGregor slammed as the event as “A 16-minute spar in sparring gloves. F— off.”
Former cruiserweight titleholder, Tony Bellew, had previously appeared at the press conference in a stunt where he mocked the fight and took aim at Paul. He continued his scathing verdict on the night on X, writing: “We are all to blame for this man!”
