The Miss Universe 2025 contest in Thailand has gone viral after Miss Mexico, Fátima Bosch, walked out of a live event when a Thai organizer called her “dumb.”

The moment was caught on video and quickly spread across TikTok, Instagram, and X (Twitter), with millions of people showing support for the Mexican beauty queen.

The argument happened during a sashing ceremony in Bangkok, one of the main events before the Miss Universe final. Thai organizer Nawat Itsaragrisil accused Bosch of not posting enough about sponsors on social media. When Bosch tried to explain, he interrupted her and said, “If you follow your national director, you’re dumb.”

Bosch stayed calm and replied, “Because I have a voice.” The exchange shocked the audience. Soon after, Nawat called security to remove her. In response, several contestants stood up and walked out in protest, led by Victoria Kjær Theilvig, the current Miss Universe from Denmark.

Outside the venue, Bosch told reporters she felt disrespected and insulted, but said she “won’t be silenced.” She added, “We are in the 21st century. I’m not a doll to be told what to do.”

Contestants from Palestine, Costa Rica, Panama, and Puerto Rico also joined her, calling it a show of sisterhood and respect. Fans online praised Bosch for her strength and courage, calling her a real queen with dignity.

The Miss Universe Organisation (MUO) quickly released a statement after the incident. Its president, Raúl Rocha Cantú, said the organizer’s behavior was “malicious and humiliating” and confirmed his role in the event would be restricted or removed. He added that MUO would send a team to Thailand to make sure all contestants are treated with safety and respect.

Facing global backlash, Nawat later apologized on Thai television, saying, “If anyone feels bad or uncomfortable, I apologize to everyone.” However, many people said the apology was not enough. The Mexican Embassy in Bangkok also reached out to Bosch’s family to make sure she was safe.

Fátima Bosch, who is 25 years old and from Tabasco, Mexico, made history as the first woman from her state to win the Miss Universe Mexico title. She has been open about living with dyslexia and ADHD, inspiring others to believe in themselves.

Now, her calm and brave reaction has turned her into a global symbol of confidence, respect, and strength. She will still represent Mexico at the Miss Universe 2025 final on November 21 in Thailand, with fans around the world cheering her on.
