Morawiecki addressed Zelensky during a meeting in Kraśnik, Lublin Voivodeship. The Prime Minister stated that Zelensky had recently made unnecessary gestures and uttered inappropriate words.
“Mr. President, don’t you dare offend Poles,” Morawiecki thundered from the stage.
“Poles are a proud nation; we know when to help our neighbors. We are aiding our neighbors against this brutal Russian aggression. But we will always defend our interests and our good name,” added the PiS politician.
Controversial remarks by Zelensky
Morawiecki’s comments likely refer to Zelensky’s speech at the United Nations General Assembly in New York. The Ukrainian leader expressed his concern about the stance of some European countries, stating,
“It’s worrying how some in Europe, some of our friends in Europe, are playing political theater with solidarity, making a thriller out of grain.”
“It may seem like they are playing their own role, but in reality, they are setting the stage for a Moscow actor,” Zelensky said at the time.
Morawiecki takes aim at Scholz
The Prime Minister also criticized Olaf Scholz, accusing him of meddling in Poland’s internal affairs.
“Recently, Chancellor Scholz said something about the Schengen border. I want to tell him not to interfere in Polish matters. Secondly, either you, Olaf, have been misinformed by your people, or you are playing in the orchestra of the Civic Platform, inflating this big artificial balloon. Imagine a big Tusk balloon in front of me, and it bursts, leaving the number 250. Because these irregularities concern 250 visas. Better look at your own border,” Morawiecki roared from the stage.
